I used to love Kurt Cobain, when he was telling people we're a pop band. People would laugh, they thought of it as good old ironic Kurt. But he wasn't being ironic.

In the 1990s, Kurt Cobain was the lead singer in the band Nirvana. He was known for making clever and sarcastic comments, so when he told people that Nirvana was a ‘pop band’ people would laugh because they thought he meant it as a joke. However, Kurt was serious – he was intending for Nirvana to be a pop band, and wanted them to become popular by making mainstream music.
