I would say just start writing. You've got to write every day. Copy someone that you like if you think that perhaps could become your sound, too. I did that with Hemingway, and I thought I was writing just like Hemingway. Then all of a sudden it occurred to me - he didn't have a sense of humor. I don't know anything he's written that's funny.

The Meaning of This Quote

This quote is encouraging people to write every day, even if they are inspired by or copying someone whose writing style they like. It is also warning them not to get too caught up in copying that writer. As an example, the speaker talks about trying to write like Ernest Hemingway, only to quickly realize that Hemingway had no sense of humor and didn’t write anything funny. The takeaway message is to write but be sure to infuse it with your own unique style in order to make it truly yours.
