There are certain things I learned when I first started learning about acting, to try and place the character physically and emotionally. And the way you place them emotionally is often with humor.

When starting out as an actor, it is important to understand the character you are portraying and to think about how they communicate emotionally. It can be helpful to use humor in order to get into the character emotionally. Humor can draw out the feelings and attitudes of a character and can help an actor understand what the character is like. In other words, using humor can make playing a character easier and more realistic.
