Writing a song is much like being an author. Yes, we all have tools to write (everyone has a brain I hope!), but that doesn't all of a sudden make us best selling authors.

This quote is saying that just because someone has the tools to write a song, like having a brain, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will be successful at writing good songs. Writing a song is similar to being an author in that in order to write a successful song, a person needs to have creativity, knowledge, hard work and dedication. Just having the tools to write a song is not enough make one a successful songwriter.
